BRIEF PROFILE+
Mr. Hamed Suleiman (1891-1970) graduated in Civil Engineering from the London University. He embarked upon his career with the Ministry of Public Works, U.A.R., where he specialized in the design and construction of irrigation schemes and projects. He assisted in the construction of the Naga Hammadi Barrage on the main river Nile and in the remodeling of the Assiut Barrage. In 1946 he was appointed Under Secretary of State for the Ministry of Public Works and in 1952 became the Minister of Public Works, UAR. He held numerous top appointments in the international field including President ICID and Vice President ICOLD.
