BRIEF PROFILE+
Dr. Hamid started his engineering career in the Punjab Irrigation Department in 1932 and rose to the highest position of Secretary, to the Government of Punjab, Irrigation and Power Department, in 1947. In 1958 he was appointed Chairman, Central Engineering Authority and was later on designated as First Chief Engineering Adviser/Joint Secretary to the Government of Pakistan in 1959. Dr. Hamid represented Pakistan in a number of International Conferences. He served as Vice President of the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage from 1961 to 1964. He also served as Vice Chairman of the International Commission on Large Dams from 1963 to 1966. In recognition of his meritorious services to the nation, he was awarded Sitara-a-Quaide Azam and Sitara-e-Imitaz by the Government of Pakistan. The University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore conferred on him the honorary degree of doctorate in Engineering in 1968.
