BRIEF PROFILE+
Dr. Bogardi was born in 1909 at Torda, Hungary. He graduated and obtained certificate in Civil Engineering at the Budapest Technical University in 1931. From 1932 to 1940 he was with the Hungarian River Engineering Service. In 1937 and 1938 he conducted post-graduate studies at the Graduate College, State University of Iowa City, USA, where he obtained a Master of Science degree. From 1945 he was Director of the Hungarian Hydrographic Institute; subsequently, from 1953 to 1962, department head at the Research Institute for Water Resources Development, Budapest, Hungary. He obtained the Dr. Techn Degree in 1943 at the Budapest Technical University, where he became associate professor in 1948. In 1952 he was awarded the degree of Doctor Return Technicarum by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, of which he was elected a corresponding member in 1962 and as a regular member in 1973. In 1962 he became full time professor at the Budapest Technical University. From 1958 to 1965 he was President of the Hydrometeorological Commission for Europe of WMO. He was member of several international scientific associations and committees. He is actively engaged by several specialized agencies of UNO, FAO, WMO , IAEA, UNESCO for which he has acted repeatedly as an expert. He was Vice President ICID from 1973-1976.
