BRIEF PROFILE+
Prof. Dr. H. Grubinger took his M.Sc. degree in water management engineering in 1947. Eng. Dr. in 1951, Ph.D. (Geology) in 1953 and inauguration (Vienna) in 1955. He worked as an Engineer for flood control and feeder road systems in the mountain regions in Austria. In 1952, he conducted hydrological studies in East Austrian Plans and also worked as Construction Engineer for ground water exploration and irrigation schemes. Later he joined as Lecturer at the University of Bodenkultur, Vienna. In 1960, he became official expert in the Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry for water management and land improvement/reclamation. Since 1961 he was Professor of land and water use and water management and head of the Institute for land reclamation at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich. He was President , Swiss National Committee (CH-AGRID) of ICID and CIGR during 1964-1970; has been President Swiss Federal Commission for Land Use and Land Improvement since 1966; has been Vice President of Section I of the "Commission Inernationale du Genie Rural" (CIGR); and has been Member of the FAO-Working Group "Irrigation and Drainage" since 1971. He was Vice President of ICID from 1976-1979.
