Located in the Yamato-gawa river basin in Osaka Prefecture, Japan is hereby included in the ICID Register of World Heritage Irrigation Structures as a remarkable engineering achievement of river rerouting and adoption of innovative ideas of radical farmland utilization method-Shimabata (island farm), public private partnership for financing and management and highly advanced farming technologies more than 300 years ago.
