(4486) Plunger pump
A reciprocating pump that has a plunger that does not come in contact with the cylinder walls, but enters and withdraws from it through packing glands. Such packing may be inside, outside, or outside the centre, according to the design of the pump. It may be a `single-acting plunger pump` or a `double-acting plunger pump`.
