(4503) Steam vacuum pump
A displacement pump where steam admitted to the cylinder is condensed therein by a stream of water, thereby creating a vacuum, which serves to draw the water into the cylinder. When the cylinder is full, or nearly so, steam under full boiler pressure is admitted, forcing the water out through the outlet valve.
